DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

Pursuant to the order agreed to earlier this day (see entry no. 20), the

President informed the Senate that the Leader of the National Party of

Australia in the Senate (Senator Boswell) had proposed that the

following matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for

discussion:

The Government's failure to allow Australia's small business sector to

reach its potential and provide real and lasting jobs to Australia's

one million unemployed.

The proposal was supported by 4 Senators and the matter was discussed.
