OFFSHORE MINERALS (RETENTION LICENCE FEES) BILL 1993

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting

for the concurrenceof the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 213, dated 8 February 1994--A Bill for an Act relating to

exploration for, and the recovery of, minerals (other than petroleum)

in certain offshore areas, and for related purposes.

Message no. 214, dated 8 February 1994--A Bill for an Act to repeal

the Minerals (Submerged Lands) Act 1981 and to make consequential

amendments necessary as a result of the transition to the Offshore

Minerals Act 1993, and for related purposes.

Message no. 215, dated 8 February 1994--A Bill for an Act to provide

for the payment of fees for retention licences issued under the

Offshore Minerals Act 1993.

The Minister for Defence (Senator Ray) moved--That these bills may

proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now read a

first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Ray moved--That these bills be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator McGauran the debate was adjourned till the next

day of sitting.
