WET TROPICS OF QUEENSLAND WORLD HERITAGE AREA CONSERVATION BILL 1993

Order of the day read for the adjourned debate on the motion of the

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and

Energy (Senator Sherry)--That this bill be now read a second time.

Debate resumed.

Senator Coulter moved the following amendment:

At end of motion, add "but the Senate resolves to place on record its

firm opposition to any commercial infrastructure development which

impacts adversely on the world heritage value of the Wet Tropics World

Heritage Area".

Debate ensued.

Explanatory memorandum: The Minister for Health (Senator

Richardson)tabled a correction to the explanatory memorandum relating to

the bill.
