PRESIDENT'S COMMISSION TO ADMINISTER OATH OR AFFIRMATION

The President announced that he had received from His Excellency the

Governor-General a Commission to administer to Senators the oath or

affirmation of allegiance.

The Commission was read by the Clerk, as follows:

AUTHORITY TO ADMINISTER THE OATH OR AFFIRMATION

OF ALLEGIANCE TO SENATORS

I, WILLIAM GEORGE HAYDEN, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of

Australia, under section 42 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of

Australia, authorise MICHAEL EAMON BEAHAN, President of the Senate,

from time to time, at Parliament House, Canberra, in the Australian

Capital Territory, to administer the oath or affirmation of allegiance

to Senators who have not already made and subscribed the oath or

affirmation since being elected or appointed, or since last being

elected or appointed, as Senators.
