the financial assistance paid to the State or authority for

expenditure in connection with the education of students in prescribed

country areas, or geographically isolated areas, in the State is to be

applied other than in connection with such education.'.".

The President resumed the Chair and the Temporary Chairman of Committees

(Senator Chapman) reported that the committee had considered message no.

185 from the House of Representatives in relation to the States Grants

(Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) Amendment Bill 1993 and had

resolved that the committee:

(a) not insist upon the Senate's amendments nos 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10

and 11 to which the House of Representatives had disagreed; and

(b) insist upon the Senate's amendments nos 2, 3, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15,

16, 17 and 18 to which the House of Representatives had

disagreed.

On the motion of Senator Ray the report from the committee was adopted.
