CUSTOMS TARIFF (COAL EXPORT DUTY) AMENDMENT BILL 1982

Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question-That this Bill be now read a second time.

Senator Walsh moved an amendment, viz: At end of motion add '', but the Senate is of the opinion that the existing coal export levies are indiscriminate and calls upon the Government to introduce legislation to abolish the coal export duty and replace it with a resource rent tax which takes into account the real level of costs and profits''.

Debate ensued.
