DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The President informed the Senate that Senator Foreman had proposed that a matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion, viz: '' The worsening unemployment situation in Australia and, in particular, the continuation of an unacceptably high unemployment rate amongst teenagers, under the restrictive economic policies of the Fraser Government''.

And at least four Senators having risen in support of the proposed discussion-

The President called upon Senator Foreman to speak.

Discussion ensued.

Ordered-That the business of the day be called on.
