PARLIAMENT'S APPROPRIATIONS AND STAFFING--SELECT COMMITTEE--VARIATION OF RESOLUTION OF APPOINTMENT

The Chairman of the Select Committee on Parliament's Appropriations and Staffing (Senator Jessop), by leave, moved--That paragraph (11) of the terms of appointment of the Committee known as the Select Committee on Parliament's Appropriations and Staffing, constituted by Resolutions of the Senate of 23 May 1980 and re-constituted by Resolution of the Senate of 26 November 1980, be varied to read as follows:

""(11) That, if the Senate be not sitting when the Committee has completed its Report--

(a) the Committee may send the Report to the President of the Senate or, if the President is unable to act due to illness or other cause, to the Clerk of the Senate; (b) the Report shall be deemed to have been presented to the Senate and the President or the Clerk is authorised to give directions for its printing and circulation; and

(c) in such event, the President or the Clerk shall lay the Report upon the Table at the next sitting of the Senate.''.
