LEADER OF THE GOVERNMENT IN THE SENATE--CENSURE MOTION: Suspension of Standing Orders

The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Button) moved--That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent Senator Button moving forthwith--That the Senate censures the Leader of the Government in the Senate, Senator Carrick, for persistently misleading the Senate as to the nature and activities of the Government Information Unit.

Question--put and passed.

Senator Button thereupon moved--That the Senate censures the Leader of the Government in the Senate, Senator Carrick, for persistently misleading the Senate as to the nature and activities of the Government Information Unit.

Debate ensued.

Closure: The Attorney-General (Senator Durack) moved--That the Question be now put.
