TRADE PRACTICES ACT AND SMALL BUSINESS--TRADE PRACTICES CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE'S REPORT

Senator Gietzelt, pursuant to notice, moved--That the Senate call on the Government to state its attitude towards the recommendations of the Trade Practices Consultative Committee's Report on the Trade Practices Act and on small business, with particular reference to:

(a) the likely impact of the repeal of section 49 on small business; and (b) the impact of the Report's recommendations on the concentration of market power in the hands of big business.

On the motion of the Minister for National Development and Energy (Senator Carrick) the debate was adjourned.

Ordered--That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for the next day of sitting.
