Senator STEPHENS (Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector and Parliamentary Secretary Assisting the Prime Minister for Social Inclusion) (6:39 PM) —Thank you, Senator Joyce. I know that this is an area that you have an ongoing interest in—both protecting the Made in Australia brand and ensuring that producers within Australia, whether they are in the manufacturing sector or anywhere else in the supply chain, are appropriately recognised and supported. However, in relation to the specific question that you have raised with me, that issue is outside the scope of this bill. It was not considered in the drafting of the legislation. As I know you are well aware, the country of origin provisions are actually contained in a different section of the Trade Practices Act.
