Senator STEPHENS (Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector and Parliamentary Secretary Assisting the Prime Minister for Social Inclusion) (1:49 PM) —In summing up this debate on the AusLink (National Land Transport) Amendment Bill 2008, I want to thank senators for their comments and reiterate the importance of this bill in demonstrating the government’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure investment. We have heard the details of the bill from the speakers, but the extension of the Roads to Recovery program to 30 June 2014 provides much-needed funding for Australia’s local councils to maintain and construct roads. I commend the bill to the Senate.

Question agreed to.

Bill read a second time.
