Senator CALVERT —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate—

(a)   expresses its extreme dissatisfaction at the exclusion of Tasmania from the official Sydney Olympic guide to approved pre-2000 training venues;

(b)   recognises that, in Lake Barrington, the Derwent Entertainment Centre, the Launceston Silverdome and the Hobart Aquatic Centre currently under construction, Tasmania has a wide range of training venues of an international standard;

(c)   acknowledges the view of the Tasmanian State Government's Olympic Taskforce that Tasmania should be considered as a training venue for cycling, swimming, diving, water-polo, rowing, canoeing, hockey, archery and shooting; and

(d)   calls on the Federal Government and the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games to ensure that Tasmanian sporting venues are included in the update of the Olympic training guide to be published in 1997 and in all future Sydney Olympic guides and publications.
