Senator COONEY(6.53 p.m.) —I refer to amended section 88B(3) which says:

In performing its functions under this Part, the Commission must have regard to the following. . .

One that would interest us all is paragraph (e), which reads:

. . . the need to prevent and eliminate discrimination because of, or for reasons including, race, colour, sex, sexual preference, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, family responsibilities, pregnancy, religion, political opinion, national extraction or social origin.

What ability has the commission to do that? I know we have not got to section 89A yet, but if its ability to make awards is limited, how can it perform its obligations under section 88B(3)(e)?
