Senator COONEY(6.54 p.m.) —I move:

That the Senate take note of the document.

This report does bring to mind the great success that the dairy industry has had in Australia and certainly in my home state of Victoria. The dairy industry in Tasmania—Senator Calvert is in the chamber—has been an outstanding success. King Island dairy products have been an outstanding success.

Senator Campbell —Nearly as good as Margaret River.

Senator COONEY —Senator Campbell talks about Margaret River. Excellent dairy products come from there but I must confess that they do not quite meet the standards of Victoria and Tasmania, in particular, King Island. King Island is not often mentioned in this place but King Island is one of the most beautiful and most productive parts of this land. I would encourage everybody to go to King Island not only to see the magnificent dairy products they produce but to see the very beautiful place that it is.

In passing, I call to mind one of Senator Cook's former colleagues in cabinet, John Kerin, who—I think everybody here would agree—did magnificent work in getting the dairy industry to where it is today. I congratulate the Australian Dairy Corporation on this report. The only thing I suggest they do is pay a bit more attention to King Island and to realise that it is a great and wonderful place.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
