Senator HERRON (Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs)(4.16 p.m.) —I have received a letter from KPMG in relation to their audit report into ATSIC funded organisations. In the letter, which I wish to table, KPMG corrects some figures contained in the report.

In the report, the auditor refers to 130 organisations `with the potential for not fit and proper' classification, and `additionally, 184 organisations requiring immediate and close monitoring'. The auditor has informed the Office of Indigenous Affairs that there was an overlap of 82 organisations in these categories.

The figure of 60 organisations `not fit and proper' does not change. The total of other organisations of concern has been adjusted from 314 to 232. In the course of debate last Thursday and in answers to questions from Senators O'Chee, Troeth and Ellison, I used the original figures provided in the report. I table the auditor's letter of correction.
