Senator WOODLEY(3.41 p.m.)
—I also want to take note of the document and will support, to that extent, the government's response. However, I want to put on the record the fact that this affects my own state of Queensland and indicate that the National Party government in Queensland has really tricked the electors of Queensland in terms of its response to this report. Prior to the last state election and prior to the Mundingburra by-election in Queensland, the Borbidge government made a great fist of the fact that it was going to reject the Eastlink power connection between New South Wales and Queensland, and it got of lot of support for that. Having done that and having moved part of the connection a few kilometres to the west of the route for Eastlink around Gatton, that government has now decided to go ahead with another high voltage powerline in a high density residential and small farms area. I believe that to be a very deceitful action by that government. I certainly will seek leave to continue my remarks at another time.
