The DEPUTY PRESIDENT —The President has received letters from the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and the Leader of the Australian Democrats seeking variations to membership of committees.

Motion (by Senator Tambling)—by leave—agreed to:

That senators be discharged from and appointed to committees as follows:

Community Affairs Legislation Committee

Substitute member: Senator West to replace Senator Denman for the consideration of the 1996-97 estimates.

Participating members: Senator Stott Despoja for the consideration of the 1996-97 estimates, and Senators Cooney, Crowley, Evans and Gibbs

Economics Legislation Committee

Participating members: Senators Bishop, Cooney, Faulkner, Forshaw, O'Brien and West.

Employment, Education and Training Legislation Committee

Participating members: Senators Cooney, Evans, Forshaw, Hogg and O'Brien.

Environment, Recreation, Communications and the Arts Legislation Committee

Dischargedfrom full membership: Senator Lundy.

Appointed: Senator Childs.
