Senator BOB COLLINS(5.45 p.m.) —I have said on many occasions publicly—this might encourage Senator Chamarette—that one of the things I actually find stimulating about the Senate, and I meant this when I said it, is that it is one of the few houses of parliament I have been associated with around the place where I have actually seen over the years the course of a debate change the outcome. In other words, what happens in this chamber has actually affected the result. I have seen that in here on many occasions, and this is one of them.

I advise Senator Kernot that she has won me, and therefore Senator Chamarette has partially won me as well. We will now support Senator Chamarette, as the Democrats will, in relation to amendments Nos 2, 5 and 6, but we will press our amendments Nos 15 and 16, which relate to—correct me if I am wrong—the same sections that Nos 3 and 4 on Senator Chamarette's schedule would have dealt with. We supported No. 1. So far as the opposition is concerned, Senator Chamarette has four out of six, which ain't bad.
