Senator CHAMARETTE(3.32 p.m.) —I am very appreciative of Senator Faulkner's suggestion, which is highly sensible. It might have been better if you gave me leave to give my speech on the second reading by dropping back. I have two concerns. I am quite happy to seek leave to have my second reading speech incorporated, if you want to do that.

My other concern relates to the committee stage, which is the one we are in right now. We are proceeding to do the sausage machine act with a piece of legislation. The Greens have not had an opportunity to place our concerns on the record. It is not necessarily inappropriate to put amendments forward, even if they are not going to get majority support, because they actually relate to the concerns that we have, and they are not ready. I wish to request two things. I request leave to incorporate my second reading speech in Hansard. I also request that the committee stage of this bill be adjourned to the next day of sitting.
