Senator SPINDLER —by leave—I present to the Senate the following petition, from 68 citizens, which is not in conformity with the Standing Orders as it is not in the correct form:

To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate in the Parliament assembled.

The Petition of the undersigned shows: That the printing and distribution of `How to Vote' Cards on Polling Day in State and Commonwealth Elections is extremely wasteful as the distribution of approximately 40 million pieces of paper during the last Federal Election indicates.

Your Petitioners request that the Senate should: Enact legislation to stop the use of `How to Vote' Cards at Commonwealth elections and that it should prevail on all State Governments in Australia to pass similar legislation for State elections.
