Senator CHAMARETTE —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

    (a)applauds the actions of the East Gippsland Forest Alliance in working to protect the World Heritage value forests of that region of Victoria;

      (i)with great concern, the unrelenting destruction of high conservation forests throughout Australia, and

      (ii)the lack of political will on the part of the Commonwealth Government to uphold its international treaty obligations and intervene to stop this plunder; and

    (c)calls on the Commonwealth Government to move immediately to protect Australia's remaining native forests and set up an inquiry to provide a cost benefit analysis of the forest industry.
