(Question No. 722)

Senator Campbell asked the Minister for the Arts and Administrative Services, upon notice, on 19 October 1993:

  (1) How many leases have been negotiated by the Australian Property Group (APG) over the last 3 years.

  (2) How many of those leases were for periods in excess of: (a) 5 years; and (b) 10 years.

  (3) How many of the leases negotiated by the APG have minimum escalation clauses.

  (4) How many of those clauses have been in excess of (a) 5 per cent; and (b) 8 per cent.

  (5) What was the name of the department or agency, the address and the square metre area of space relevant to each of those leases under (3).

Senator McMullan —I have been advised that the answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

  (1) 2066

  (2) (a) 317

  (b) 66

  (3) 97

(4) (a) 23

  (b) 6

You should note that there are variations to information contained in Question 4 to that provided in Senate Estimates. The variations account for the previous inclusion by some APG state offices of information based on a criterion of "in excess or equal to".

  (5) APG has been established as a commercial service provider within Government and in competition with the private sector. The provision of this level of detail would be a breach of confidentiality of APG customers.
