Senator ALSTON (Deputy Leader of the Opposition) (3.27 p.m.) —Minister, clause 75(1)—

Senator Chamarette —Mr Chairman, I raise a point of order. I understood that, in order to expedite matters, amendments would be put at the beginning of each section. I rose to my feet to gain the call but, because of the movement in the house, you did not see me. Would it be possible for me to introduce my amendments?

The CHAIRMAN —Senator Chamarette, you are absolutely right. I think the sensible thing to do, which was a matter resolved in my absence, is for those concerned to move amendments at the beginning so that we have them before us to debate, if that is the continuing wish of the committee.
