Senator GARETH EVANS (Minister for Foreign Affairs) (3.55 p.m.) —Since Greens amendment 3A has not yet been moved, perhaps we should wait until it is. I can indicate now that we will be supporting that particular amendment. It makes clear the particular criteria by which compensation is payable, and we think that it is a definite improvement to the way in which the act operates in that respect. That amendment has not been moved yet. Perhaps, by leave, it could be moved and debated cognately with our own because there are related matters. Then again, since it relates to offshore waters, and the batch of amendments I have moved relate to onshore waters, it may be desirable to leave it until we resolve this other matter, which I hope we now have.
