Senator HILL (Leader of the Opposition) (9.03 a.m.) —We disagree with that motion. Why should it not be dealt with now? The government wants to push these important issues and this important bill down until after consideration of the Native Title Bill and presumably after the social security legislation; so it will not be dealt with at all. What is the message from the House of Representatives?

The PRESIDENT —There is disagreement to the amendment to the Veterans' Affairs Legislation Amendment Bill.

Senator HILL —Why do we not have that debate now?
