Senator SHERRY (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and Energy) (3.21 p.m.) —The government opposes this amendment for similar reasons to those outlined by Senator Patterson. Of course, I do not agree that the very difficult circumstances that farming communities are facing today are due to policy of this government. It is quite a complex issue. They are primarily due to corrupt world markets and low world prices. That is a debate for another time.
