Senator FAULKNER (Manager of Government Business in the Senate)
—by leave—I wish to put on the record precisely what arrangements are being made to satisfy the terms of this resolution of the Senate. At the time a bill is introduced in either house, the Australian Government Publishing Service will provide a disk copy of the text of the bill in WordPerfect format to the Bills Digest Service of the Parliamentary Research Service.
At any time after the introduction of the bill, the Bills Digest Service will make available to members or senators on request an electronic copy of the bill by E-mail. This service will be available from 1 February 1994. In the meantime, PISO will investigate the feasibility of including bills in the parliamentary database system. I have discussed these arrangements with all interested parties. I understand that they meet with general satisfaction.
