Senator CRANE
—I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:
That the Senate—
(a)notes that:
(i)the Australian Minerals and Energy Foundation recently commended well-known and highly-regarded environmentalist Mr Harry Butler for his outstanding professional advice over a long period by presenting him with their highest award for an individual, and
(ii)special mention was made of Mr Butler's efforts at the remote desert Barrow Island where West Australian Petroleum, over a period of 30 years, has been able to develop an oil field without losing any of the sensitive ecosystems or species, or introducing any foreign weeds, as a result of Mr Butler's expertise;
(b)congratulates Mr Butler and West Australian Petroleum for their efforts on Barrow Island which have not been replicated anywhere else in the world; and
(c)commends the Australian Minerals and Energy Environment Foundation for its dedication to recognising and promoting environmental excellence in a practical manner.
