Senator BELL —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes:

(i)Australian Associated Press International News reports of 15 November 1993 that New Zealand's largest vegetable processor, Wattie Frozen Foods, is encouraging farmers to switch to organic production and its managing director, Mr John Dunstan, is calling for New Zealand to take advantage of its image as a provider of clean, green produce, and

(ii)that, while the Wattie company exports several hundred tonnes of organic process vegetables, the company estimates that five or six times that amount could be absorbed by the market, which in the United States alone, is estimates to be worth $US5 billion by 1995; and

(b)calls on the Government to recognise this action by the New Zealand company, an action which demonstrates the truth of the observations by Australia's organic food producers that the international market is large, growing and lucrative.
