Senator KEMP —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

    (i)that the Government has acceded to United Nations (UN) conventions enabling three UN committees concerned with human rights to receive complaints relating to Australian domestic disputes, and

    (ii)with great concern, that these UN committees include members nominated by governments who do not themselves meet the tests of a free society;

  (b)deplores the Government's taking this major action without consulting the parliament of the Australian people; and

    (i)the Government's actions in overturning the philosophy of the Australia Act 1986, which prevented appeals on domestic disputes to outside tribunals, and

    (ii)the Government for undermining Australian independence.
