Senator COULTER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes with alarm that:

    (i)a hole in the ozone layer, the largest of its type ever recorded, occurred over southern Australasia, including Tasmania, in mid-September 1993,

    (ii)New Zealand scientists have warned that the hole may appear again over southern Australia early in October 1993,

    (iii)the Deputy Director of the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer warned 2 days ago that increased ultra violet radiation could stimulate the AIDS virus and possibly other viral infections; and

  (b)calls on the Government to accelerate international and domestic efforts to phase-out ozone destroying chemicals as rapidly as possible.
