Senator BROWNHILL (Deputy Leader of the National Party of Australia) —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

    (a)notes that:

      (i)the week beginning 5 September 1993 is National Child Protection Week, an initiative of the National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, a volunteer-based organisation,

      (ii)the theme for 1993, `Children are People Too', is a timely reminder to all adults, parents included, that children deserve our respect, our attention and our protection, and

      (iii)by 1991, the last available official figures, over 50 000 cases a year of child abuse or neglect were being reported to State and Territory welfare authorities and the incidence is increasing; and

    (b)supports this worthwhile campaign.
