Senator GARETH EVANS (Leader of the Government in the Senate) —by leave—I inform the Senate that the Minister for Trade, Senator Cook, is overseas on government business and will return on 22 September. During his absence, I will act as Minister for Trade. Questions relating to that portfolio should accordingly be directed to me. Questions relating to Senator Cook's responsibilities for the primary industries and energy portfolio should also be directed to me.

The Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs, Senator Bolkus, is also overseas on government business. He will return on 24 September. The Minister for Industrial Relations, Mr Brereton, will act as minister during his absence. Questions relating to his portfolio of immigration and ethnic affairs should be addressed to Senator Richardson. Questions normally taken by Senator Bolkus in his capacity as Minister representing the Attorney-General should be directed to Senator Schacht.
