Senator BROWNHILL (Deputy Leader of the National Party of Australia) —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—


      (i)the announcement by Kodak International that it will be reducing staff around the world,

      (ii)that spokesmen have not ruled out staff cuts to its Australian operations, and

      (iii)that it was only 4 years ago that the then Prime Minister (Mr Hawke) vigorously defended his Government's decision to allocate $36 million assistance to this multinational company, to obviously little benefit, ahead of Australian companies which were and remain in need of financial assistance; and

    (b)condemns the Labor Government for its total lack of economic competence and its clumsy approach to assistance to industry in this country.
