Senator GARETH EVANS (Leader of the Government in the Senate) (6.00 p.m.) —Pursuant to standing order 154, I move:

That the motion just agreed to be communicated by message to the House of Representatives.

I do not propose to speak at any length at all to that motion. The reason is self-evident. What has been done is a fundamental disrupting influence so far as the House of Representatives is concerned. The implications of it are quite profound for the business of this parliament and the House of Representatives ought to be formally apprised of that fact as soon as possible.

  Question resolved in the affirmative.
