Senator TIERNEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

    (a)condemns the Australian Labor Party for its devastating attack on the wine industry by increasing the sales tax on wine to 31 per cent in the 1993-94 Budget of 17 August 1993;

    (b)recognises that this savagely discriminates against the wine industry, the export success of which depends on a buoyant domestic market;

    (c)notes that:

    (i)on 18 August 1993 the Winemakers Federation of Australia will announce a drastic revision of its export projections from $1 billion to $500 million by the year 2000, and

    (ii)the Chief Executive of Australia's largest wine exporter, Orlando Wyndham, has said `the industry has been chopped off at the knees'; and

    (d)condemns the Government for slugging one of Australia's most dynamic and rapidly growing export industries.
