(Question No. 203)

Senator Alston asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice, on 18 May 1993:

With reference to the following organisations:

  Community Child Care Association

National Association of Outside School Hours Services

National Association of Community Based Children's Services

Victorian Subsidised Child Care Co-ordinators Association

Victorian Coalition of Peak Bodies in Child Care Services

  Parents for Affordable Care

  United Child Care Action

  (1) What applications for grants or any other payments have been received by any, and which, bodies within the portfolio by the organisations since June 1990, what date was the application made and for what purpose were the grants or payments sought.

  (2) What grants or other payments have been made by any, and which, bodies within the portfolio to the organisation since June 1990, what date was each payment made and for what purpose was it provided.

Senator Gareth Evans —The Prime Minister has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

Portfolio (excluding ATSIC)

  (1) No applications for grants or any other payments have been received within the portfolio from any of the organisations mentioned above since June 1990.

  (2) No grants or other payments have been made from bodies within the portfolio to any of the organisations mentioned above since June 1990.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC)

  (1) and (2) Advice from the National Program Manager and the majority of State and Regional Managers is that these organisations are not known, and are unlikely to have been funded. However, as ATSIC does not maintain a national database of unsuccessful funding applications, ATSIC is canvassing its 7 State and 32 Regional offices to ascertain whether any applications have been lodged by the organisations in question. In the unlikely event that a thorough canvassing does in fact reveal funding applications, supplementary information with relevant details will be provided.
