(Question No. 176)

Senator Calvert asked the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, upon notice, on 18 May 1993:

  (1) For each department or agency, what was the name and total cost, including staff time, printing, distribution, etcetera, of annual reports produced for the financial years: (a) 1990-91; (b) 1991-92; and (c) 1992-93.

  (2) When were the annual reports listed in (1) tabled in the Parliament.

Senator Faulkner —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

  (1) There were four annual reports produced within the Veterans' Affairs portfolio in each of 1990-91 and 1991-92 (1992-93 reports are still in preparation). Their names were: the Annual Reports of the Repatriation Commission and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (a two-volume set); the Annual Report of the Veterans' Review Board; the Annual Report of the Office of Australian War Graves and the Annual Report of the Australian War Memorial.

  The costs for the above reports were:

  The information sought on the cost of staff time spent in producing the above annual reports cannot be separately identified as statistics are not kept on time spent on these projects. Distribution costs also cannot be separated from general registry expenditure.
