Senator SHERRY (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Primary Industries and Energy) (6.52 p.m.) —I wish to emphasise that whether Senator Ferguson and I disagree or agree that the allowance should or should not be paid, at the end of the day it was the Industrial Relations Commission that determined the matter and made the assessment. The allowance was paid for periods of between six months and 18 months, depending where the particular officer worked at a particular time. If the officer was in the section or area, that officer may have received it for six months or less than 18 months. I am advised that the payments have ceased because the construction work has ceased.

The CHAIRMAN —If there is nothing further on subprogram 9.6, we move to program 10.1, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO).
