Senator WATSON (5.55 p.m.) —I think it is appropriate for me to make a couple of remarks. The Insolvency (Tax Priorities) Legislation Amendment Bill 1993 was taken to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Public Administration in a rather rushed process. The Opposition did object to the fact that outside professional organisations did not have the opportunity of participating in it. We acknowledge the need for the thrust of the change. We still have some concerns, but in a number of areas some of those concerns have been taken up by the Minister for the Arts and Administrative Services (Senator McMullan). I believe that in due course this Bill will be back before the Senate for further amendment. In the meantime we acknowledge that we do not have the numbers to delay the passage of this Bill. I have raised our protest and so all that can be done now is to sit down.
