Senator FOREMAN —by leave—I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the following matter be referred to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade for inquiry and report on or before the last sitting day in October 1994:

  Australia's relations with the People's Republic of China, with particular reference to:

  (a)the development of the political relationship;

  (b)the further development of economic links including trade and investment;

  (c)the extension of social and cultural ties;

  (d)human rights;

  (e)the political and economic circumstances of Hong Kong and Taiwan; and

  (f)territorial disputes such as those in the South China Sea.
