Senator GARETH EVANS (Minister for Foreign Affairs) —In accordance with my statement to this chamber last Wednesday, 19 May, I now table the `Register of Senators' Interests' forms of all government senators. It should be noted that Senate Ministers' returns are submitted on the form that has been used in the House of Representatives for some years now, in accordance with the practice established there by the Government for all Ministers. As I indicated at the time of my statement, the Senate will be debating this whole subject in the first week of the Budget sittings. In the meantime, I invite honourable senators from other parts of the chamber to follow the government senators' example.

Senator Hill —Does not the Minister need leave to table those documents? They did not arise out of a question or a statement by the Minister.

Senator GARETH EVANS —As I understand it, I do not need leave.

The PRESIDENT —From what I understand, the Minister did not require leave. He could have tabled the documents at any time during the procedures.
