Senator BJELKE-PETERSEN —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)condemns this Government's appalling economic performance over the past 10 years which has culminated, tragically, in over one million Australians being presently unemployed;

  (b)notes, with alarm, that a national business survey has predicted that 800 000 people will still be out of work by the end of this decade;

  (c)deplores the fact that the Government is now considering new revenue-raising measures, through increased taxes, to meet its deficit target, despite pre-election promises to the contrary; and

  (d)acknowledges the hypocrisy of the One Nation package, and the Federal Government which now looks set to defer partially, if not scrap altogether, its promised personal tax cuts, due to the depth of severity of Australia's economic malaise.
