Senator BJELKE-PETERSEN —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)condemns the Government for the lack of urgency it has displayed in relation to the construction of Brisbane's International Airport, which is scheduled to be completed in January 1996;

  (b)urges the Government to expedite the airport's construction so that the loss estimated by tourism industry experts of $27 million in visitor revenue, in the event of a delayed opening, will not eventuate; and

  (c)acknowledges:

    (i)that the tourist industry may hold the key to an economic recovery in Australia, and

    (ii)that every effort possible should be made to expedite the construction of Brisbane International Airport, so that Australia's premier tourism state can lead the economic recovery which is so desperately needed in Australia.
