Senator Coulter asked the Minister representing the Minister for Aged, Family and Health Services, upon notice, on 26 November 1992:

  With reference to the report of the National Health and Medical Research Council Cyclodiene Insecticide Use in Australia (1992), and the working party and panel involved in the report's compilation:

  (1) What was the contribution by Dr Tony Watson of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Canberra to the report.

  (2) Was Dr Watson appointed to the working party as an individual or as a representative of the CSIRO.


Senator Tate —The Minister for Aged, Family and Health Services has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

  (1)  Dr Tony Watson was a member of the working party and panel and the report acknowledges that Dr Watson contributed sections on termites and their methods of control.

  (2)  Dr Watson was selected on the basis of his personal expertise relating to termite control.
