Senator BOSWELL (Leader of the National Party of Australia) —I would like to join in the condolence motion moved by the Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Evans) and supported by Senator Hill. President Premadasa of Sri Lanka was assassinated on the first day of May in a suicide bomb attack that left at least 17 dead and 60 injured. President Premadasa was a devout Buddhist who built thousands of model villages across Sri Lanka and who provided the poor and the needy with fresh water, roads and schools.  I am sure that all honourable senators will join with me in deploring political violence, wherever it occurs, and in extending our sympathy to President Premadasa's widow and children.
