Senator WALTERS
—I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:
(1)That the select committee known as the Select Committee on Community Standards Relevant to the Supply of Services Utilising Telecommunications Technologies, appointed by resolutions of the Senate of 21 June 1991, 10 September 1991 and 23 June 1992, be reappointed with the same functions and powers, except as otherwise provided by this resolution.
(2)That, in addition to its other terms of reference, the committee inquire into and report on:
"(e)the extensive, Australia-wide, qualitative and quantitative research conducted, and to be conducted, by the Australian Broadcasting Authority, on:
(a)community standards of taste and decency in relation to classifications for pay television;
(b)what levels of violence and depictions of sex should be allowed; and
(c)what other matters should be included for viewing for adults and children in the various classifications.".
(3)That the quorum of the committee be three members.
(4)The committee have power to consider and use for its purposes the minutes of evidence and records of the Select Committee on Community Standards Relevant to the Supply of Services Utilising Telecommunications Technologies appointed in the previous Parliament.
(5)That the committee report to the Senate on or before the last day of sitting of each of the budget and autumn sittings until the end of the Parliament or until the committee presents its final report, whichever first occurs.
