Senator BROWNHILL (Deputy Leader of the National Party of Australia)
—I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:
That the Senate—
(a)notes:
(i)with alarm the latest balance of payments deficit of $2 billion, and
(ii)that there was no mention in the Governor-General's opening speech of how the Government will handle the deteriorating balance of payments; and
(b)calls on the Government to take measures so that the rural sector in the future will have the ability to redress the balance of payments problem.
