Senator PATTERSON —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes that:

    (i)the Private Hospitals Association of Victoria is currently engaged, with its national body the Australian Private Hospitals Association, in a campaign to change federal government health policy, and

    (ii)this campaign stems from the associations' concern that public hospital waiting lists are between 70 000 and 100 000 while private hospital beds lie empty;

  (b)joins the associations in condemning the Government for failing to address this problem by offering tax credits to encourage people to take out private health insurance; and

  (c)calls on the voting public to pass judgment on the Labor Government's failed health policies at the next federal election.
